Jobs and Housing and Resources, Oh My!

The economy levels seem to be rising due to more and more people finding jobs, meaning less people applying for unemployment benefits. This is a good thing, seeing as we want more people to have jobs because that makes the economy better. The Housing Market index rose as well, which means a bright future in terms of sales.

On the downside, manufacturing is struggling due to oil prices and a stronger dollar. The lag in manufacturing may be due to the fact that one of the factors of production is not holding up its end of the bargain. In turn, some goods may not be produced and some resources wasted, which we cannot afford.

I think the economy is doing well in terms of the unemployment rates. Less people have to rely on money from the government and can support themselves and their families. The problem with manufacturing, I believe, is the lack of labor and the lack of resources. They're being consumed too quickly and a lot of them are not infinite, meaning that they can't be used constantly because there isn't an unlimited supply to take from. The factories, or whoever handles the distribution of resources, need to use less because they are already scarce, which could really damage the economy.

People, including myself, are extremely self-centered. We're only worried about ourselves and what we may "need," not really thinking about the consequences of out wastefulness or overconsumption. We're worried about what we can get and that we can get it now. We may not necessarily need it, but our self-indulgences override our concern for the resources or the economy.

The economy requires cohesiveness in order to function in a way that will keep the people from starving. Manufacturing can do a better job at regulating what resources go into what production of goods and how much of it. We, the people, can also do better at realizing that wasting resources and taking advantage of what we already have. Us and the economy need to appreciate each other more if we're going to be in a relationship.
